I´ve read your entire blog… Not only am I totaly amazed that you are opening a cupcake business in Germany (we badly need more of those!) but also by how you do it. All the testing and questionaires, the beautiful decorating… You really seem to know what you are doing!
I wish you all the best and many people hungry for cupcakes around you ;-)
Next time I am in Frankfurt I hope you have a Cafe opened so I can come and eat a cupcake (or more)!
    All the Best and more
    Anna

Hi, I was googling autumn inspired cupcake ideas as I was feeling very uninspired :-o and I came across your beautiful cupcakes and blog. It’s so great to read someone with a similar story. I too am the owner of a small cupcake business (www.jenscupcakery.com) and experiencing the highs and lows that this brings; highs – lovely comments from customers, not being a corporate slave anymore; lows – trying to make money, get customers, achieve a great website, marketing tools with little funds! But what the heck, at least it keeps life interesting! Anyway, best of luck with your business and hope you find that kitchen! Best, Jen

Hi, This is Sarah from Peru!! I’ve just found your blog and spent the whole afternoon reading it. I’m trying to start a cupcake bussiness in my country and all your posts were very helpful to me!, I have 2 questions, which is the frosting you decided to regularly use? buttercream or swiss?, Did u stay with the william sonoma’s recipe for vanilla batter http://www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/vanilla-cupcakes.html? , be sure that your answers will be really helpful to me, I’m almost in love with the job that u are doing and the dedication that you put on it, pretty inspirational.

    Thank you!

Hello Sarah from Peru! Great to hear from you. Actually I have continued to try out recipe after recipe. I find that I am always in a sort of recipe development because I am always checking out new recipes and changing things up. Lately, I have found that I use recipes no longer in cup measurements but in grams because I have found that with the cup measurements I tended to over-add flour making the cupcakes less fluffy. I love Rose Levy Beranbaum’s the Cake Bible as she has all her wonderful recipes measured out. She even measures her eggs in grams! Not by the actual number of physical eggs. And for the frosting I use Swiss buttercream but I often flavour it with dark or white chocolate or berry puree otherwise I find it too buttery. Hope this helps!:)

As a Canadian living in Austria I can understand the challenges & joys that you may be experiencing while living in Germany. My North American cookie recipes have been failing over and over and I never got my “ah ha” moment until I read your “Flour in Germany” entry. You have inspired me to try again! Thanks :)
